TEwing, I think Homie is out as it requires (as far as i can tell) a connection infrastructure beyond just the machine and the UI device. No LAN, no internet...
Rudy, Thanks for the input. I was purposefully vague about the machine as it's a demo for a product I'm developing. I know a lack of specifics makes helping more difficult, but thanks for trying! In fact, I think the project you linked is close enough to share many of the same challenges and should get me moving in the right direction.
