Has anyone tried using a SIM5320 or similar 3G device to have completely portable internet access with an ESP8266?

Could be brilliant - genuine 'internet of things', without needing a WIFI connection.

Personally I would just use a cheap android phone.

I've seen a post from another forum showing other module much more affordable, although I didn 't try it myself :

I have used sim900d http/ftp features with any mcu before from old internet connectivity projects.

but for esp8266, i used zte mf70 and huawei e5330/e5331 mobile wifi hotspot.
