#73016 Guys,

this is for a low power device which will be solar powered, so power savings is of the ultimate concern.

Can you elaborate more on the long cable runs. What issues will I run into? This device sits outside a large 30 foot metal container and temperatures are taken at serveral points along the cable . Therefore it is impractical to have multiple wifi devices inside the container.

I still am unsure if it would be best to eliminate the mosfet and run power directly off one of the spare pins.

#73050 30 foot is about 9 meters and it's starting to be a bit long for a DHT22 (may work if you're reducing pull-up resistor).
But, again, if you're only measuring temperature, DS18B20 should be the better option, IMO. Simplest to use, less cable and probably less power consumption as no moisture probing.
