Are chip id and/or flash id expected to be unique?

Or are they just hardware model identifiers?

The MACs would have to be unique, right?

Chip id is unique..may or may not be derived from the unique MAC. Flash id is the manufacturer product id mostly unique to the flash type but all flash chip of a specific product id will have the same product id.

The CHIP ID is the decimal representation of the last three bytes of the MAC. This is nowhere documented and therefore could change in future but so far this was true for all chips I checked. Makes some sense as the first three bytes of the MAC are meant to be the manufacturer ID...
