How to improve NodeMCU development board?

scrap the module, do a narrower design to leave more usable rows on breadboard.

For me personally, the width of the NodeMCU board is just fine. It exactly straddles two breadboards that are side by side just perfectly. So as long as one has two breadboards, one is golden.

There's been a similar posting on the Node-MCU f/w github wiki at: https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-firmware/issues/666, with a bit more activity.

I posted two (too ?) long answers there, in short for myself I would like to have the capability to remove the power+USB/TTL 'northbridge', or make it replaceable.
