ESPs are really power hungry. To avoid problem, as mentioned in several threads, a bigger capacitor is needed, around 100uF, as near as possible to power pins.

oh wow, and it's funny because I actually thought it was you that originally told me about the .1uF! I guess I misread, or am going crazy.

OK, well, consider the .1mF switched out for 100uF :)

I agree with martinayotte.

I would put a 100 uF ceramic, within a few mm of the 3.3v pin on the ESP8266-12E.

It will peak at 250 milliAmps for short periods, so make sure your regulator can supply that, plus whatever the rest of your "thing" requires. Note that the Adafruit "Huzzah" has a 500 mA regulator, for good reason.

Fatten up your power traces.

Put the caps closer to what they are filtering/protecting/serving.
