ESP8266 as rx for my manualy sendet packet from tx

i want to send a packet from my TX to the ESP as RX. The Packet is generated with some information, but not the regular WIFI standard. Is it possible to "sniff" the right packet from the traffic and take the payload with an own code of the packet.
After that i want to transmit it to my arduino, but that is an other topic
