Hi again,

I just found an interesting project, implementing a simple telnet-server on the ESP 8266. Not as secure as SSH, but if someone is clever enough to get into my wifi, the least I worry about is my SBC.

I use one (WROOM version) as a remote Wi-fi dongle to bridge me over to my house from my workshop as i am a bit too distant without it....if that is any help at all. Basically a repeater kinda thing.
