Yeah, I'm on Linux too, various distros, mainly Ubuntu or similar, so I am not affected by the Windows driver thing either.

Then, I still unable to understand ...
I've 4x Mini and 2x Pro, and with all of them, ArduinoIDE can upload sketches automatically.

the Wemos I was mentioning in my post earlier is a copycat as well. No Wemos logo even though it says D1 Mini on it. Maybe you just have a bad unit, as in it has a broken connection. Nevertheless, congrats on making it work!
