#87088 And we have the solution. This behaviour only appeared when there was no change in the reading which I did not spot.

Turns out homeassistant is smart enough to skip storing a reading when there is no change. (I personally would prefer to capture more data but that's by the by).

So, it's doing the power saving step for me - now I need to implement in the hardware :)
