Sorry for late response. What's the output of your wimos mini? Is it 5V or 3.3V?

A Wemos (or any ESP based board) always outputs 3.3V levels, unless a level-shifter (like a transistor) is used, but this has to be added by yourself.
Assumption is the mother of all f*ckups. At least: that's what I'm assuming.

From your attached diagram it looks like you are connecting the servo's power pin (red) to the 5V pin of wimos. I prefer using a separate power supply for the servo. In your arrangement, chances are high that MG996 will not get sufficient current to run. It may work at the beginning. But you may see the servo making only vibration and not rotating properly after sometimes.

the battery power shield is able to supply ~1A/5V so that should be sufficient
