Dual Core
Bluetooth LE
more RAM approx 400k
more I/O
added peripherals and DMA

Sounds like it will be a major upgrade...hopefully it will stay dirt cheap. That is what is nice about the current modules. $1.79 already nets you a esp-01 and $2.18 esp-07

Hopefully arduino code previously made for the esp8266 can be easily ported or simply compiled for this new platform.

Has there been any talk about backwards compatibility in the new sdk?
