ESP8266 Community Forum

Hello all,

I'm a newbie and recently purchased this board:

I then used the NodeMCU flasher with the 0.9.6 firmware found here: https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-firmware/releases

The problem is when I click flash, things appear to stall at "Note: Begin Find ESP8266". I've changed ports, baudrates, clicked both the flash and reset buttons on the board but I'm not sure what to try next.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The best I advice I can give you:

• Build a recent version, ideally from the dev branch: https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-firmware/#releases
• Use esptool.py to flash it: http://nodemcu.readthedocs.io/en/latest ... #esptoolpy

Thank you for the info! I tried esptool but it couldn't connect also so I'm going to send the board back and try a new one. Hopefully it was just an issue with the board.
