ESP8266 Community Forum

Hi!
I missed esptool in my Arduino IDE1.6.5 for Mac.

I tried both under URLs in 'Additional Boards Manager URLs'.

Would you teach me how to install the right IDE and URL?

As I understand it it is not needed on the front page anymore just compile your code ,choose the board and port and upload .
If you need more post more detail and I will try to help.

Its in packages/esp8266/tools/esptool or should be I think

What does it mean "you don't need it on the frontpage anymore"?
Is it enough to select the ESP8266 board, port? In this what is the programmer I need to use? The default? AVRISP mkII?
