Are you aware that there are some compatibility issues with the mosquitto version on the Raspbery Pi?

I found that the Mosquitto version available via the standard apt-get interface was very outdated

Followed the instructions to install the latest version of Mosquitto and it worked like a dream for other apps.

At the moment I'm struggling getting my ESP8266 to work properly with MQTT. Must be doing something minor wrong
