I've tried installing different version and it won't show up under programmer. It shows up under boards. I'm using the files from http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/packa ... index.json

Ah ! Sorry for confusion : ESP framwork doesn't care/look about programmer's menu, (mine stays as USBasp) ...
It is the "port" menu that is important, and your seems to be grayed out.
Why ? Maybe you don't have the USB Serial driver installed ?
Which USB-TTL Serial are you using ?

I had the programmer unpluged when I took that screen shot.
