I wonder if this technique can drive an OLED with a reasonable battery life?

Ah, I'd think Amazon would do the same soft-power-off trick as I pulled. It's not hard nor expensive and it makes the experience just that bit better.

Okay, it's done. Spent a fairly large amount of time debugging the AP mode, but I probably have a bad WiFi USB dongle... on my phone and my laptop it works just fine. Here's the result.
