Hi,

Thanks for creating this community forum!

I followed the instructions and created the wiring circuit at http://www.esp8266.com/wiki/doku.php?id=getting-started-with-the-esp8266.
I've successfully flashed ESP8266 using a CP2102 usb uart-ttl converter, esp8266_flasher and firmware ESP_8266_BIN0.92.
After resetting the module I used Coolterm and tried to connect the module. I see a lot of character but I can't give a AT command.

etc.

What's this? Any idea what's wrong? Hope someone can help me.

Kind regards,

I'd suggest a better thread title than "What's this". Have you tried connecting your USB to UART at different baud rates? What are the specs of the baud rate, stop bits, data bits etc of your current configuration?

Yes indeed, that's a better title ;-)

I've solved my problem :P
The usb port of my laptop wasn't powerfull enough for my combination ESP8266 and CP2102.
Hooked up an 3.3V external powersource to the ESP8266 + 1 extra wire (GND to GND) from ESP8266 to CP2102 and that was the solution.

Now I'm playing with Lua Uploader and my first ESP8266 webserver is running

Great device and new challenges

Best regards,

It's not the USB port but the CP2102. I recommed using FTDI232 instead.
