#30736 I just noticed there is also a wifimcu out there as well.

Has anyone used it ?

If so what are the benefits of the wifimcu vs the nodemcu.

Here are the specs:

Cortex-M4 microcotroller
STM32F411CE
100MHz,Cortex-M4 core
2M bytes of SPI flash and 512K bytes of on-chip flash
128K bytes of RAM

Multi-Interface
17 GPIO Pin
3 UARTs
ADC(5)/SPI(1)/I2C(1)/USB(1)
SWD debug interface
11 PWM

Broadcom IEEE 802.11 b/g/n RF Chip
Supports 802.11 b/g/n
WEP,WPA/WPA2,PSK/Enterprise
16.5dBm@11b,14.5dBm@11g,13.5dBm@11n
Receiver sensitivity:-87 dBm
Station,Soft AP and Station+Soft AP
CE, FCC suitable

Operation Temperature:-30℃ ~ +85℃

Here is the explanation:

WiFiMCU is developed based on EMW3165. Run the Lua script directly; operate hardware resource; achieve product prototypes. EMW3165 is a low-power embedded WIFI module, which is developed by the Shanghai MXCHIP Technology Co., Ltd. It incorporates a WiFi RF-Chip and a microcontroller based on STM Cortex-M4. The WiFi module includes a "self-hosted" WiFi network library and application components. In addition, It also provides 2M bytes of out-chip flash, 512K bytes of on-chip flash, 128K bytes of RAM and a rich peripheral resources.

Would be nice to know if anyone tried it and has any feedback on it.

#30843 Has any one used it?!
As of 23.00 UTC on 8th October 2015 it is a kickstarter project 60% funded with only 26 hours to got.

To quote from the project page
This project will only be funded if at least $3,000 is pledged by Fri, Oct 9 2015 2:27 AM BST.

Look as though it might be a non starter!

#30847 That's a bit sad ... (I'm a bit guilty here, since I didn't pledged)
I've look at EMW3165 derivative project. It is attractive because of the STM32F411 and memory capacity.
I've even purchased one bare module from http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/EMW316 ... -2488.html.
I've received it recently, but didn't get time to try it out.
There is a forum about it, but it is a bit quiet there : http://www.emw3165.com

Not really that sad. If you search for wifimcu on aliexpress, you'll find plenty of sellers offering the same board (at least the photos and specs look identical), starting at around 10$.
I'm not quite sure what their angle is, but a kickstarter for something that's already available from that many vendors looks kinda fishy to me...
