Using the standard code, the board firstly tries to connect into a WiFi network that you "have connected before", but if you have never connected to any network, it will try forever (so dots dots dots forever). As you don't want to connect to any network, simply remove the code where it tries to connect, so the module will skip that part of code and it will work.
