Thanks for you helping. After Connecting D3/GIO0 to ground I was able to upload the sketch. (I also now understand) what pulling up and down mean.

I uploaded the Wifiscan sketch, disconnected the jumper that connected GIO0 to ground, hit reset and can see the following in the serial monitor

scan start
scan done
no network found

I've spent the last couple of hours trying to understand why my ESP cannot see my wifi

The wifiscan sketch shows:

scan start
scan done
no network found

But other device in house can see it and connect fine. Any Ideas?
