1. There is no reliable source for this "announcement".

2. There is also no reason for joy because the current chip has no proper data sheet and why should the new chip have one?

As to the datasheet, etc. The ESP series is what it is a pretty amazing device for ~ $3. Yes we'd like info to improve but anyone is free to try the various alternatives in the market, if they have a problem with what it is not.
