ESP - 07, Wanted to disconnect onboard ceramic antenna?

Hi there,
I wanted to disconnect ESP-07 onboard ceramic antenna. Has Anybody done that before?
I have removed a resistor between external antenna slot and internal antenna slot(image attached),
Disconnected the external antenna, still it is connecting to Wi-fi and uploading the data.
Should I remove the antenna too, or is there a way out?

You should only need to remove the shorting resistor. This breaks the connection.

You are still getting a signal but it is probably very weak. I assume you want to connect an external antenna. Go ahead and do it.

Hi,
Why it is still connecting to wifi, after disconnecting the shorting resistor.
Actually, I am planning to cover my whole circuit with "faraday cage". So didn't want the onboard antenna to create unwanted EMI to the circuit.
I only need the external antenna slot to work.
