Thanks for the suggestion. When it became unavailable today (after not quite three days), I uploaded the same program with v. 2.3. I'll see how it goes.

I tried v. 2.3 of the esp package in the arduino ide. I got almost two days.
I'm giving v. 2.1 a try now to see if it will stay connected.
