I had a similar problem which was caused by a too weak pull up resistor on CH_PD. I don't remember which resistance I used but it seems to be critical. I'd just try shorting it directly to VCC.

Tosa - Any news on this. My ESP-12 is doing the same thing, shows MAC addresses in the LUA programmer but then stops.

A newly ordered batch arrived and is working fine. They actually even look slightly different (real pinholes whereas the first batch had some kind of rectangular open slits only. As I didn't change anything and the new ones work, I suspect that the first batch is somehow damaged or not build against the same specs and therefore causing the issues.

Where did you get the first batch? Not to damage anyone's business, but I'd rather not fall into the same hole.
