In my first reply I said that there are real problems with the ESP8266's A/D. That if I were to use a thermistor I would use an external A/D converter. .

Thanks Rudy is there a particular A/D converter you would recommend? I may now need to switch to esp32 instead for other reasons and was wondering if anyone has had experience of ADC on that?
