Thank you for your input. In the meantime I also tried it without the adapter and it worked flawlessly.

The cards SD and micro have common SPI protocol ( for backwards compatibility) but for native speeds the cards each have their own protocols.

Thanks for the reply viktak. I'm facing the exact same situation (not building a hard disk though). Actually, I've exchanged the micro SD card 2 times from the store I bought it from thinking that it was broken or not working. Anyways, I'm going to read more on this topic you shared. Thanks again man.
