#16834 alonewolfx2, since you cannot directly drive high current drives directly from a GPIO, you can always use a buffer. It is a very common practice to use a buffer after a GPIO which would then provide the switching signal for your MOSFETS or transistors. This was your controller is shielded from the output circuit and it doesn’t have to source a lot of current. A buffer can only protect your GPIOs but it can also supply the required current.
