#53635 OK, so now I'm confused; well more confused... If I understand this document correctly, http://www.softnology.biz/pdf/JEP106AR.pdf , (the JEDEC listing) indicates 0X E0 to be LG. After further digging, I found this; http://starter-kit.nettigo.pl/2016/04/esp8266-sprawdzic-rozmiar-pamieci-flash/ (right click on the page and Chrome will convert it to english)
"....It remains googlać, but ... the above result is the result of a new ESP8266-07 in sales with us. Google is online ESP8266 information that this agreement Winbond, but ... this is not true. Winbond has ID 0xEF not 0xE0. Id 0xE0 by JEDEC is assigned to LG Semi (Goldstar), Truevision, Domosys, Sandburst, Credence Systems Corp., Opulan Technologies, Memory Exchange Corp., Berg Microelectronics Inc., Eoplex Inc. ...." So is that saying that JEDEC assigned 0X E0 to 9 different manufacturers?

#53662 Thanks Martin, yes, I saw that as well; so if I understand you correctly, there can be multiple companies indicated by an ID code? How does one know which it is? Another factor I don't understand; in several posts, the flash id example was 0x E0 4016. This is the same as the ones in my original ESP 12's. I 've yet to find information on how to translate the 4016 into useful information.
