ESP8266 Community Forum

- Thu Jun 18, 2015 12:25 pm #20841 All the currently available ESP8266 boards (esp-01 to esp-12) seem to contain the esp8266ex chip, along with an 8-pin IC that is connected to it. I've looked around, but can't figure out what that board is, or what it's used for. Can anyone give me some pointers?

The second link you've provided is not a SPI Flash chip, it is a SPI FRAM chip, completely different things.
