SPI flash on boards

Im new on this. Why does the size of SPI flash on the released boards ESP1 -ESP12E seem to be such a SECRET. Its seldom mentioned in any of the board advertisements? It also has limited mentions on esp8266 as far as I can see.

A question on SPI flash. I have seen adverts for ESP-1 modules which have 25040 or 25080 Flash chips. These seem to be 512 and 1024 byte(!) chips. What can be done with these modules as there is not realistic download space? 25X40 or 25X80 would give 512K and 1M but the Aliexpress ESP-1 pictures seem to show 25040 and 25080 chips
