#36127 The firmware is esp8089 firmware which is just a very basic firmware to run the radio functions and sdio interface while the IP stack runs on the raspberry pi. Esp8089 has been used in android tv sticks and such. So you would think it should be able to achieve a reasonable throughput.

Yes! I read that article this week. It's a pretty cool idea.

Perhaps AI-Thinker or anouther builder could be persuaded to do a flashless ESP board version that plugs right onto the Pi header.
