usable as DCE as well?

I'm talking "AT" from my ESP to a SIMCOM800L module, and need a decent AT-parser for that (that is a parser that sends a command and parses the modem replies).
The ESP is the host in this case. I've been reading the chat's on Igrr's at libs, but am not entirely sure if it's actually meant or can be used for this purpose.
