I also had the same problem. Did anyone solved this problem yet. I suspected that the wifi library cant be use to the new esp board. I dont have this issue when i flash the old esp board.

you are using the 8266 and not the newer esp32 chip correct? If so what is presented should work unless you have a dud possibly or your not resetting before programming dunno what to say at this point wish I could help further. Providing nothing is wrong with the unit or the flash memory or solder joints I really cannot say what it could be I could diagnose it myself however that will not help you. Try metering out your 5v and such make sure you are getting voltage at the proper pins etc only way you can really track it down at this point is with a multimeter or visual aid providing you are doing everything right during programming I know they work cause I use them thats all I own to be honest at this point.
