Watchdog reset problems

Hello,

I am a complete beginner to ESP8266 and hope that someone on here can help me.

I have the 01 module that is set up with an FTDI breakout board. Once I connect the board to the Arduino serial monitor or any other for that matter, the module occasionally works and gives me a ready message but after a few moments it crashes, reboots, and presents me with a wdt reset error. Sometimes when I turn it on, it directly gives me this error. I haven't even programmed it nor done anything with it yet.

This happens when GPIO0 is connected via a 1k Ohm resistor to VCC, reset is connected via a 1k Ohm resistor to VCC, and chip power down is connected via a 1k Ohm resistor to VCC.

What is responsible for this problem and how can I fix it?

Thanks!

The FTDI chip's 3.3 volt output is inadequate for powering the ESP-01. If you are using the FTDI to power the ESP-01 then that is likely you problem.
