The brand of L298N should not matter. There are cheap modules on eBay if you are prepared to wait for overseas delivery but typically quite a mark up for local supply.

Pin7 (enable) is supplied with a link to enable so that using 2 control lines you can run the motor at fixed speed one direction or reverse. If you want to control the speed then you take the enable link off and feed a PWM speed control into Pin7. As it is a geared motor then you may not need speed control for your application.
