Not quite sure what you are doing but why don't you have the images on the server already and just call them from the HTML code?

Er, @bonzo, they are on the server, in SPIFFS, so I'm not sure what you mean.

@RichardS, I'm happy to say the "lightbulb" finally went on. (the one in my head ) I was putting an if statement between two "server.on" functions trying to pick an image. Thank you so much, now on to getting the "real" light bulb turned on
