#91190 I forgot one thing. Using the compacted one (USB A - 8 pin sockets for ESP-01S) I found very convenient to solder on its PCB a push button to put the GPIO0 to GND at power up, before I initiating the download of the the sketch. If GPIO0 isn't at ground at power up, and stays there for a few seconds, you can't flash the memory
For the other one, requiring wires between the ESP-01S and the converter, it's easier to ground the GPIO0 to enable flashing the ESP-01S

#91195 At this point I'm a bit confused. From what you write I understand that the originator of this post is connecting the Arduino IDE to an Arduino NANO which is connected to an ESP-01S. In other words he's using the NANO as an USB - RS232 converter to flash the ESP-01S.
Then why not simply using an USB - RS232 converter? It's cheap and it's straightforward.
