I d/l arduino-1.6.1.zip from www.arduinoesp.com and installed it.
The libiconv-2.dll was in the arduino.exe directory.
I can now compile the code, without problems. but the esptool programmer not visible under Programmers.
I have restarted the arduino several times, but it still does not appear.
Thank you for your time

If you are using Windows try the V1.6.3 Windows Installer here http://arduino.cc/en/main/software

All this talk of needing to build the IDE for Windows will have new users running for the hills!
I installed the prebuilt zip on windows 8.1 and it works fine. What is the easiest way to get patches installed as they are released? it seems like the github has been updated with some fixes but the zip remains the same.
