The thing that really bugs me is that even in the full 1.6.1 windows download from git it still doesn't work, it isn't just me trying to add it into an existing Arduino install. Tried the obvious restart of the PC and still nothing.

- Sun Apr 12, 2015 2:39 pm #14303 I could not see esptool also, and had issues with a known good sketch as well, so I renamed the esp8266com folder (to old_esp8266com) and restarted the Arduino 1.6.1 IDE.
esptool now appears.

Think I'll go back to the specal "p1" build...

It works, Now it appears, but when I try to upload the WiFiWebServer example it fails

error: failed reading byte
warning: espcomm_cmd: cant receive slip payload data
warning: espcomm_send_command(FLASH_DOWNLOAD_BEGIN) failed

Downloaded the latest version and still cannot see esptool.
Back to the drawing board...
