Downloading and installing the new Arduino IDE for ESP8266

#24667 I noticed no-one but me bothered to enter an issue on the github/esp8266/arduino/issues page as I suggested . Despite me putting a direct link in there. That's how things get fixed . Its called helping yourself and I'm out now.

#24669 igrr has a tremendous workload.
I would expect some common grumbling in the user base and at least a small consensus on the forum before elevating a preliminary observation to bug status.
I appreciate your attention in elevating the linux 32bit non-install issue. Three users saw the same thing... it was a bug! Many times I have thought I had encountered a bug when it was my own programming error. I am much slower to cry wolf (or bug, as the case may be) these days.

I don't know where the performance took the hit in the last release, but it was faster before.
I have not collected enough testing data to quantify how much, but the system response speed seems at least 4x slower. The speed was present before, so it should be relatively easy to recapture again.
