Need help with the design requirements to integrate a ESP8266-12E into an existing custom board. The controller is the Atmega328pb. I have already connected the TX/RX for UART communication. My question(s) revolve around what other components/pins need to be connected. I have VCC and EN tied to +3.3v and of course GND is connected. I know RST and GPIO0 are used in flashing the modules. Can I drive these from the controller to control flashing firmware. There are several implementation of the 8266 for example NodeMCU and MicroPython. I believe I just need the AT command set to allow for pass-through communication. This the AI-Thinker module only?? Anyone with experience in integrating this module or even a 12F please let me know.
