I know this is a late response to this but... Here goes...

I have slightly different requirements, my D1 is running as a web-based controller for garden systems, and there's a wifi AP aimed at it from the house with a custom antenna. The home broadband router includes a DHCP server so I've configured that to give the D1 a static IP address. Most DHCP servers let you configure case by case using the MAC address to identify the clients.
