I gave a quick try on veroboard using Arduino IDE. It works fantastic, thanks for sharing your project. BTW I am using ESP-12.

Well done you. I am glad it is of use. It should work on any ESP module if the I2C pins are correct.

Looks good with the blue and yellow OLED

I am in the process of adding full serial control to this example, so for example commands can be sent to the module to enable access point mode, set IP etc. I will let you know if you are interested when this is complete.
