AP gets very unstable while connecting to STA!

my ESP8266 provides a hotspot and a web-server to which I can connect by my smartphone. On the website I can then enter and save my WLAN credentials.
After saving, the ESP switches to the AP-STA mode and tries to connect to the saved Accespoint, the GUI shows if the connection succeed.
Unfortunately, the web server is no longer available while the ESP tries to connect, and sometimes my smartphone completely lost its connection to the hotsport. As I read, the channel change is to blame.
Is there any way of connecting the ESP to an access point, without the AP connection becoming unstable?
