it is not too complicate to modify the ESP-01, I did it on 3 pcs allready.
Just needs a wire from the pin marked xpd_dcdc to ext_rstb, a fine soldering tip and a steady hand.
you can leave them connected even if you don't use deepsleep, no need to have them accessible from external.
(if you don't need extra gpio)
