Similar scan for APs is already provided by SDK.
But, scanning unconnected stations is impossible since they don't broadcast their MAC.

Any idea how Android gets this info? See pix

I don't know about that app and all the items in the screenshot look like APs, not clients, but technically it is possible to track some WIFI - clients nearby by setting the WIFI - device into monitor - mode, then just waiting patiently as clients make requests for APs. There are a few caveats, though: you can't actively scan for clients, you can only passively listen for these probes and only then will you know that there is a client, and not all clients send probes -- some just wait passively for APs to broadcast themselves, and thus you have no way of seeing these clients at all.

I have no idea if it is possible to do this with the ESP at all.
