Wemos Pro Mini & LittleFS upload tool

This was very painless until I tried a Wemos Pro Mini (ie 16M) & the LittleFS upload tool failed. The SPIFFS tool works.
Is this a known issue? Anyone else had this?
As an aside, the https://arduino-esp8266.readthedocs.io/en/latest/filesystem.htmlis clearly out of step with the IDE. It doesn't even mention 16M support
