I just downloaded the windows build again thinking it was with the new SDK and incorporates new mods as listed by Iggor. It says passing and still downloads with the old SDK 9.5 am I missing something here, or do I need to overwrite directory's with tweaks shown detaling hour many hours etc.

What I am looking for and haven't found yet, is an instruction howto update the windows-build.

I tried to copy
\hardware\esp8266com
\hardware\tools\esp8266\sdk
\libraries
from github,
but that is not enough. I get an unspecific error message when compiling any of the examples.
'Fehler beim Kompilieren.' in german.

I think we should have a 'howto update' or is it already anywhere?

Can anybody help?

I had the same problems with the prebuilt zip. IT works better by installing arduino from scratch arduino.cc and then follow the instructions from here https://github.com/sandeepmistry/esp8266-Arduino

You may need to locate libiconv-2.dll and place it in the root directory.
