works for me on 1.57. Your wiring appears correct. I'm using a 0.96" 4pin OLED module.

The error has been found. It was due to the wrong supply voltage. I have the same screen and have it connected with 5 volts to an external power supply. Common Ground between Nodemcu and display was also available. Having the display connected to 3.3 volts of Nodemcu everything was ok.
